Thursday 13th December

Today we done a improvisation exercise in theatre and we had to walk around the room and talk to other chaacters in the play and I learned that my character gets to the point a lot and doesn't like to have long converations with people because he is shy and he day dreams a lot... for e.g when he was talking to one of the market trader he was day dreaming and reminicsing about the times he had with his family in the Ivory Coast before they were murdered.

Thursday 06th December

(Off text improvisation) Today we had a reflecting session, which i had to be my character and act as if he was very upset about the loss of his family which may have been one of the reason in which he stabbed the man, he felt very bad after and regretted it but he just really missed his family so it was very difficult for him to come out with his feelings.And so he waited to share towards the end and he thought it was a big step...talking about his experience and feelings to a group at the reflection session.And for that reason he left the seesion feeling he lifted some weight off his shoulders by telling someone how he felt.                           

Thursday 29th November

Today we started of the lesson by doing an exercise called punctutation dance and we had to make dance moves to punctutation like ',' and '!' we had to read the script and everytime we saw punctutation we had to do that certain dance move.Shortly after Miss gave us the Characters she thought would best suit us and I got the role of Kojo(lead) and I was pretty happy with the character I was given but because the amount of lines it was split with Kevaughn.He's got the first 17 scenes and I have the rest  19 scenes. From the puctutation dance I learnt that the character of Kojo doesn't really have long sentences and he likes to get to the point a lot and because he can't speak English the cuts his sentences really short.

Thursday 22nd November

Today we had to audition for the part we wanted and i picked Cheung because i thought he would be a good and easy character for me to play.During the audition Miss picked me several times to read Kojo(the main character) who I didn't really mind being but I pefered to be Cheung. We also got are grades for last term for are log books, I also thought I could potray the character Cheung very good and I like his character because I thought the play writer made him humours like me.He is also from China which has no relavents to me but I like China, so yeah thats another reason why I wanted to be Cheung.

Thursday 15th November

Today we continued to read are sciprts and then came up with a summary of the whole play and then Miss put us into groups of characters and I was choosen to be Cheung and we had to do 'A day in the life of ' and we had to go through 24 hours of the character and this helped me get into the right frame of mind of the character and then after that we were split into groups of what character you were picked to be. Then we had to draw around somebody in our group's body and write inside how you think the character set by Miss would act and how they would feel.When we had to do the 'day in the life of' I learnt that my character has a boring life and its quite repetative the things he does like wake up eat play games and go back to sleep and have nightmares and wake up again.

First day of the scripted work

Today we received are scripts for are scripted work this term I've read through the script and thought it was great and I really liked the way the author kept pausing the whole piece just to tell remind the audience that it is not real and is just a act. And I also like the main character Kojo and his story of how he got drafted into the army and experienced a lot of violence which then lead him to later stab someone when he moved to London.I did some reasearch on the country that Kojo was from, Ivory Coast and it's in the west of Africa near my country surprisingly Ghana it got independence from France in August 1960 so the language they officially speak is French and even in the play Kojo speaks a bit of French to his mother.
